Our History & Your Innkeepers
The Millhouse Inn is a two-story, historic home located in a historic community. The house was built in 1843 by former Florida Governor Abraham Kurkindolle Allison. He served as the sixth Governor of Florida at the end of the American Civil War. The Inn was converted to a Bed and Breakfast in the 1960s.
The six-bedroom Inn, which is on the National Historic Register, is surrounded by more than 30 homes over 100 years old. The Historic District’s walking tour (complete with app!) attracts many people to the small town.
Within a few miles of the Millhouse Inn you can fish in Lake Talquin, hike through the Caverns at Mariana, visit the glorious Gadsden Art Museum (walking distance), swim at the beautiful St. Georges Island beach, or see a show at the Quincy Music Theater. A casino is within 10 miles as is another historic town: Havana.
Your innkeepers are John and Bek.
John grew up reading and playing among the cars of New York City while Bek grew up on the other side of the planet; camping, swimming and painting in and around the South West of Western Australia. They met in the mountains of Ecuador.
From dissimilar worlds, yet with similar dreams, their focus is on creating a healthy planet, a peaceful world where people are free to pursue their own passions and running a bed and breakfast where travelers can stay, explore and share their stories.
Bek and John 'stumbled upon' The Allison House Inn in 2018 and fell in love with Northern Florida. Within four months, they uprooted themselves and their crazy lives from New York City to pursue their own dreams in the relatively small, yet artistically hip community of Quincy, Florida.
Bek is a longtime artist, award-winning children's book illustrator and graphic designer whose work is widely acclaimed. John is a journalist whose last job was as the communications leader for a legal defense fund. Their next chapter as your hosts is filled with genuine excitement and creative vision!

CANCELLATION POLICY
Making a reservation at a bed and breakfast is not the same as making a hotel reservation. Due to our small size, cancellations affect us significantly. A last minute cancellation gives us little chance of re-booking a room. For this reason we uphold a strict cancellation policy:
-
Guests are responsible for payment of all nights reserved regardless of their actual arrival or departure date.
-
No-shows are responsible for full payment of their entire reservation.
-
Should you cancel outside of 14 days prior to arrival, you will be charged 30% of your entire stay. If the room is re-booked you will be charged a $30 a day administration fee.
-
Cancellations (including changes) made 14 days or less, prior to your scheduled arrival forfeit a one day charge and if the room is unable to be re-booked, the full reservation value will be charged to the credit card provided at the time of making the reservation. Any and all rescheduled reservations will require the full financial payment by the Guest, and the deposit is not transferable to another stay. There are no exceptions to this policy including sickness, family emergencies, or weather related issues.

FAQs
Do you serve dinner?
We are a Bed & Breakfast. Upon special request, we can also prepare and serve a set dinner menu.
Can we check in earlier than 3:00 pm? And can we check in later than 7:00 pm?
We are happy to accommodate requests for early check-ins whenever possible, just give us a call if you’d like to arrive prior to 3 pm. We know that sometimes it is difficult for our Guests to arrive before 7 pm, so if this is the case for you, please call us directly so we can make other arrangements.
Do we get to choose from a menu for breakfast?
At the time of your booking we ask if you have any dietary issues, dislikes, etc. We prepare one main, hot dish that should work for all. We typically plan a dish on the sweet side one morning and the following day a dish on the savory side. We will accommodate any dietary needs and appreciate advance notice.
I see that breakfast is served at 8:00. What if we want to sleep in or have an early departure?
We begin serving breakfast at 8:00 am to our guests and finish at 9:30 am. We do review the proposed times during check-in, to make sure that the breakfast times work for your proposed schedule. We also gladly provide a “to-go” breakfast option for Guests that need to be on the road! Please inform us of this the night before. Thank you.
