A selection of special activities within an hour from the Millhouse House Inn:

  1. Gadsden Arts Center & Museum. World-class art exhibits, an excellent museum shop filled with local artisan works and strong education programs. Two blocks from the Millhouse House Inn. 

  2. Quincy Golf Club. Tee-time midweek requires no reservation. Weekends do so be sure to call ahead and make your booking at the Club: (850) 627-9631.

  3. The Leaf Theatre. Memorable musicals with strong performances by Tallahassee and local talent. Walking distance from the Inn. 

  4. Quincy Historic Walking Tour. There are almost 30 homes, 100 years or older within Quincy's Historic District. The town is also home to several historical cemeteries. There will be walking tour brochures in your room. Download the app and listen to wondrous anecdotal stories as you stroll the oak-lined streets.

  5. Havana. Fancy antiquing? Spend the day in Havana, a small, very hip town just a right hand turn out of the Inn’s parking lot. The town has antique stores galore, the Shade Tobacco Museum and many great restaurants. Check out Oscars (great pizza, as good as any you find in NY) and Havana Eatery, where Chef Kenny makes inventive and good food. 10 minute drive.   

  6. Wakulla Springs. Take a guided boat ride through the waterways, spotting manatees, alligators, waterbirds and native plant species. An easy 45 minutes from the Millhouse Inn and a wonderful way to spend a morning/afternoon. Lunch or dinner options at the Wakulla Springs Lodge is recommended.

  7. FSU/FAMU and the state capitol, Tallahassee. The area boasts many activities, from sporting and academic events, to art shows, musical performances or just hanging out. There are plenty of bars, major restaurants, art galleries, music venues, parks, hiking trails, shopping, etc. And Monster Truck rallies! 25 minute drive.

  8. Lake Talquin. Great fishing and boating area. Site of several fishing contests. No swimming. 20 minute drive.

  9. Florida Caverns State Park. Go caving, taking a guided tour of these wondrous lime-stone caverns near Mariana. Then, return to your creature comforts at the Millhouse Inn! 1 hour drive.

  10. Joe Budd Wildlife Management Area. You can hunt, fish, boat, camp, hike or just chill. 20 minute drive.

  11. Silver Lake Wildlife Management Area is a 9,200 acre property with a 350 acre lake in Southern Georgia. You can hunt for deer, turkey, small game, quail and waterfowl. You can find over 30 groups of red-cockaded woodpeckers, a significant population of Bachman's sparrows, gopher tortoises, nesting bald eagles and many other high priority species. 37 minute drive.

  12. The Florida Apalachee-Spanish Museum is located just 25 minutes from the Inn. The Spanish Franciscan mission was built in 1633 and the museum seeks to educate folks about the long history and connection between the Native Americans and the Spanish. 

  13. The Millhouse Inn. Just stay in (pun intended) and read. Tea is at 4. Books and reading material abound. Enjoy bird-watching, photography or simple star-gazing.

  14. OK, cheating just a little... TWO hours away you can actually swim with the manatees at Manatee State Park! Learn about these harmless creatures and hopefully you'll try and save them.
